Five Flooring Types You Can Use In Your Home
If you are looking to change the flooring in your house or think that you would like to have different types of flooring across all your rooms, then the first thing you should do is look for the right materials. There is more than just concrete and just wood when it comes to flooring. In fact, there are actually more than ten types of flooring for you to choose from. Here are just some of those flooring types that you may want to consider to use in your house.
• Vinyl Composition – You can get these vinyl tiles in just about any hardware shop these days. It's actually the most popular of all flooring these days and the tiles can come in different colors and grades. These are 12-inch by 12-inch tiles that can be installed in any way that you like. The tiles are also very easy to install. But the most important thing of all is that these are easy on the pocket. Other features include their impact resistance, UV light and heat stabilities.
• Sheet Vinyl – What makes this type of flooring special is that it reduces the number of seams that are created when you lay it on the ground. This is because you purchase these by the sheet and these can come anywhere from 6 to 15 feet in width.
These are even easier to install than tiles are and can help you trap less dirt and grime because of the smaller number of seams on its edges. They are best used in commercial areas rather than at home because more maintenance is required on them. Also, the sheets are actually less durable than most other types of flooring.
• Laminate – If you have seen those shiny floors around in buildings or other houses, then those are most probably laminate floors. These are also becoming a popular choice for many households these days. This is because the laminates are cheaper than actual wood and these are also burn-resistant. Aside from that, these cannot be scratched or chipped. This is why it is best to use this in an area that is walked on the most either in a commercial or residential setting.
• Ceramic – Of course, you can not do without some ceramic flooring especially in the kitchen. Ceramic floors are the most waterproof and since most spills will happen in the kitchen, then it is best to install this flooring type there. These can be used outside the house and even as a layer on a counter top. The only problem is that ceramic does scratch and over time will not be so great to look at.
• Marble – Known as the one of the most expensive materials, marble can actually also help a house keep cooler and is best if you live in a hot part of the country. Marble can be used in any part of the house and is easy to install. Marble is not only a tough material but it also looks classy so having marble around can make a room look quite elegant.
